We are a small, all-volunteer committee representing residents from around Boulder County and every point on the political spectrum. We come from different walks of life, with unique experiences and perspectives — but we all agree on one thing: our county deserves better representation, greater accountability, and a stronger voice for every community member.

Many of us have firsthand experience working in or alongside local government, as well as years of involvement in advocacy and community-building throughout Boulder County. Through this work, we’ve gained a close understanding of how the current system operates and where it could support our community more effectively — including opportunities to strengthen representation, improve decision-making processes, and bring more voices to the table. This perspective shapes our belief that expanding the commission from three to five members is a practical, meaningful step toward a more responsive, transparent, and equitable county government.

Boulder County is growing and evolving, and our government should evolve with it. By increasing the number of commissioners, we can ensure that more voices are heard, decisions are more transparent, and local issues receive the attention they deserve.

What makes Big Tent BoCo special, however, isn’t just our goal — it’s how we’re pursuing it. We’ve set aside our political and ideological differences to focus on what unites us: a shared belief in fair representation and effective local government. Our collaboration is proof that when people come together with respect, honesty, and purpose, meaningful change is possible.

We believe this effort can serve as a model for the kind of constructive, inclusive problem-solving that Boulder County — and our democracy as a whole — needs.

Together, we’re building a bigger tent for a stronger Boulder County.
